Baader 2" 90 Degree Erect Amici Prism Diagonal

The Baader Amici Prism as long been a popular choice for generating refractor and Cassegrain-style telescope images that are oriented correctly. However, to produce an amici prism, a much more complex and higher level of quality is needed compared to the production of a standard mirror diagonal or a right angle prism diagonal. The faces of a prism must be polished smooth, flat, and located at the correct positions and angles with extreme accuracy. The sharp roof edge needs to be made so fine that it practically vanishes. Even supposed premium quality amici prisms often create images that are astigmatic or asymmetrical and show a distinct central diffraction spike. The roof edge diffraction spike of this Amici Diagonal is exceptionally faint! Baader's 2" Amici Erect Image Diagonal is made with a fine, large-sized prism.

Baader Planetarium produces easily the finest amici prism star diagonal available today. The prism has been made to the proper specifications, in order to provide image quality that suffers from none of the defects found in commonly available correct image amici diagonals. The finest 7-Layer Multi-Coatings ensure the image is bright and contrasty, and the oversized prism provides the full clear aperture of 1.25"! The precision machined aluminum housing provides a stress-free mounting and precise location for the prism. This correct-image diagonal is just the thing for high-quality terrestrial viewing.

Correct image diagonals have been used traditionally for terrestrial viewing and limited to low (under 100X) magnifications. The high quality of this diagonal lets you use much higher magnifications without aberrations or image breakdown.
