The Canon 18x50 IS AW Binoculars are amazing! Their high-tech image stabilization technology allows for shake-free, high magnification views. Going on a cruise? Canon IS AW Binoculars are the perfect solution to a moving vessel. Now you can have it all—high power to see a long ways off but without the shake normally associated with powerful binoculars.
No more image shake!
Normally, high powered binoculars are almost impossible to hand-hold; the image shakes too much to comfortably look at any one object for long. Image shake can be caused by wind, arm fatigue, excitement—even your heart beat! The higher the magnification, the more "magnified" the shakiness will appear. Traditionally, the only combatant against image shake was to choose binoculars with a magnification of 8X or lower, or to mount more powerful binoculars on a tripod and just deal with carrying extra gear.
Then along came Canon! They designed an Image Stabilizer system that utilizes a Vari-Angle Prism (VAP). This IS system has a vertical and horizontal sensor to detect motion, as well as a microprocessor that adjusts the Vari-Angle Prism on each side, in a bellows-type fashion, according to the amount of binocular shake detected. This provides instant adjustment of the refraction angle to compensate for motion. Simply push the IS button on your Canon 18x50 IS AW Binoculars and you'll actually see the image go from shaky to steady before your eyes!
Waterproof and fogproof
Besides image stabilization, Canon offers a multitude of other features that make their IS binoculars desirable, including their waterproof performance (WP). With Canon IS WP binoculars, you do not need to worry about rain, fog, or high humidity. Moisture cannot penetrate the completely waterproofed binocular housing.
The Canon 18x50 IS AW Binoculars also have eyepieces that are designed to prevent condensation and fogging, which is very useful in a multitude of weather conditions.
Superb Canon optics with ultra low dispersion glass and field flattener
You will also love the clear, sharp views through a pair of Canon IS AW binoculars. Canon used their world famous EF-series camera lenses as a benchmark when designed the optical system for their IS binocular models. An ultra low dispersion glass element, combined with a field flattening lens provides sharp, true color images across the entire field of view. Super Spectra Multi-Coatings are used to increase contrast and resolution while decreasing lens flare and ghosting.
If you want shake free, high magnification views that are bright and sharp, you will love the Canon 18x50 IS AW Binoculars. They can be attached to a monopod or tripod if you like, but the point is, you don't have to! The front objectives are threaded to accept standard 58mm photographic accessories, including lens hoods and filters. If you are going to be viewing over water, sand, or snow, you will love the addition of a couple of polarizing filters or a lens hood to increase contrast.
