Celestron’s Omni XLT telescopes have been a customer favorite for years thanks to their elegant design and stunning views through top-grade optics. New for 2015, Celestron has introduced an altazimuth version of this beloved telescope. Now you can enjoy the crisp, sharp views synonymous with Omni XLT with a simple, intuitive, and sturdy mount that’s easy to point at both celestial and terrestrial targets.
An all-new altazimuth mount designed from the ground up
Celestron’s engineers had a lot to live up to when designing an altazimuth cousin to the elegant and eye-catching Omni mount. The result is the smoothest, best performing manual altazimuth mount on the market. Slip clutches in both axes provide quick and easy pointing. From there, use the worm gear driven slow motion controls to precisely center a celestial object in the telescope with smooth, fluid movement. It’s just as easy to make accurate small adjustments when tracking your target as it moves across the sky.
The telescope and mount are anchored by a sturdy-yet-lightweight aluminum tripod. Best of all, the entire kit sets up in just minutes with no tools required.
From the Earth to the stars
Do you have a great view? The Omni AZ mount was designed with balconies and clifftops in mind. Rake back the mount’s dual-position arm to point high in the sky for celestial viewing or adjust it to point downward for viewing objects below the horizon.
The Omni XLT AZ 114mm Newtonian reflector optics provide detailed views of all your favorite celestial objects, from the Moon, planets, and passing comets to the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, and beyond. Take this compact telescope to a dark sky site where its optics can truly shine.
The difference is XLT optics
Celestron’s proprietary XLT optics are one of the company’s most closely-guarded secrets. Originally developed for observatory-grade telescopes, these special anti-reflective optical coatings enhance light transmission, resulting in brighter, sharper views. You can see the difference when viewing objects rich with gas clouds, like the Pleiades Star Cluster, or viewing solar system objects like Jupiter and the Moon.
The XLT coatings are applied to all air-to-glass surfaces within the telescope tube.
New StarPointer Pro changes the way you navigate the sky
Red dot finderscopes were originally designed for shooting sports. Although they work well for amateur astronomy, using them to locate small objects can be difficult because the red dot obscures your target. The Celestron team designed a better solution, and it’s included with every Omni XLT AZ telescope: StarPointer Pro. Instead of a dot, this finderscope projects a dual circle reticle. Just center the object in the smaller circle, and it’s ready to view in the eyepiece. Plus, the larger optical window makes it easier to aim the scope from a variety of viewing angles.
In addition to the StarPointer Pro, your Omni XLT AZ also includes a 25mm Plossl eyepiece.
