  • Description

Produce your own breathtaking images of the Sun, Moon, and planets with Skyris 236, a new solar system imager from Celestron and The Imaging Source.

    Lightning fast and ultra-sensitive

Even as little as one or two years ago, a high performance solar system cameras on par with Skyris 236 would have cost hundreds more. But with the rise of CMOS imaging sensors, this rewarding hobby has become surprisingly affordable. Skyris 236 features the acclaimed Sony EXMOR IMX236 imaging sensor, which is especially sensitive in the near-infrared range, making it a perfect choice to bring out details in planetary imaging. Tiny pixels measuring just 2.8 microns increase resolution to further enhance your images.

Choose from Skyris 236 Color or Monochrome, depending on your experience level and the type of imaging you want to do. Those new the hobby sometimes prefer the simplicity of a one-shot color camera, which creates lifelike images right of out of the box. However, the Monochrome camera offers a bit more sensitivity, perfect for advanced imagers using a filter wheel or monochrome imaging of the Moon and its craters.

Both models feature a unique heat sink camera body, designed by Celestron to minimize thermal noise for razor sharp images. But, most exciting of all, Skyris connects to your computer by SuperSpeed USB 3.0. Now, your connection won't hold you back from capturing more data faster. With Skyris 236, you can capture up to 200 frames per second during planetary imaging when subframed or image the full sensor at 60 frames per second.

Backed by The Imaging Source, the experts in astrophotography cameras

The Skyris family of planetary cameras is the brainchild of Celestron engineers in California and The Imaging Source, the world's premier astrophotography camera company based in Germany. This collaboration represents the best in quality components and smart industrial design. Plus, you can buy confidently knowing that you're covered by Celestron's two-year warranty.

Software included--now compatible with Mac OS X

Celestron recently announced that Skyris 236 cameras are now compatible with Mac OS X! Whether you're using a Mac or a Windows-based PC, your Skyris camera includes a free software suite that takes you through every step of producing your image, from capturing your data to stacking and processing the final still image or video.
