The Meade LX70 Dual Axis Motor Drive will allow you to add motorized tracking capabilities to your Meade LX70 equatorial mount. The package comes with two motors—one for the right ascension axis and one for declination axis—and a simple hand controller that lets you drive your mount at different speeds. Choose from 2X, 4X, and 8X sidereal to center or track an object, or move quickly from one location to another. Installation of the motors is a fairly simple process.
The LX70 Dual Axis Drive Kit works in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. A small N/S switch lets you pick your location. The hand controller operates on four user-supplied D cell batteries.
You will really enjoy having a dual axis drive on your LX70 mount! Not only does it allow you to more easily center an object and keep it centered during visual observations, a drive system also helps with astrophotography. With the addition of a camera and a few astro accessories, like a camera adapter, off-axis guider, and guiding eyepiece, you can take beautiful long exposures of galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, comets, planets, and more through your telescope. The hand controller will allow you to keep your camera centered on the object being photographed so that you get sharp results without star trails.
