  • Description

The Vixen 39976 consists of the 80 mm A80MF refractor and an Advanced Polaris Equatorial Mount and Tripod. This is a great entry level telescope package that can grow as your enjoyment of the hobby of astronomy does! The AP mount is modular in design, and can accept a variety of modules to expand its functionality, including motors, hand controllers, and more. And since the mount can handle more weight than that of the included 80 mm refractor, you can add a different telescope tube assembly when you want to change it up a bit. In the meantime, enjoy views of the planets and bright deep sky objects, and have fun using this very smooth, well made equatorial mount!

    About the A80Mf Refractor Telescope

The Vixen A80MF telescope has an aperture of 80 mm and a focal ratio of 11.4. With a long focal length of 910 mm, you will have nice contrast between the objects you are observing and the night sky. With 80 mm of aperture you can see the rings of Saturn, the equatorial cloud belts of Jupiter, and hundreds of features on the Moon. Brighter objects out of the solar system are also in reach of this telescope, including the Great Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Hercules Star Cluster and so much more. Use the 6 x 30 finderscope to zero in on the object of your desire, and then insert the 20 mm eyepiece for lower power, wide angle views, or the higher magnification 6.3 mm eyepiece. The Vixen A80Mf refractor attaches to the included Vixen Advanced Polaris mount via tube rings and a Vixen-style dovetail.

    About the Vixen AP Mount

The Vixen Advanced Polaris is an easy to use, versatile manual German equatorial mount that is designed to be easily transformed into a variety of configurations. This classic equatorial mount is ideally suited for both beginners, who want a simple to use equatorial mount, and experienced observers, who want a basic Grab and Go Equatorial Mount.

The Advanced Polaris Mount securely supports your telescope for comfortable night sky observing. With its friction control system, the mount can be quickly moved to your target object, and slow motion controls on both RA and Dec allow for smooth manual movements once your choice of object is in the field of view.

A wide selection of accessories and modules are available to customize the Advanced Polaris mount as you see fit. This manual EQ mount comes with the Vixen AL130 Tripod and a 2.2 pound counterweight.
