  • Description

    The Vixen 25082DS consists of the R115S, a 4.5” f/7.7 refractor with Super Extra Low Dispersion Glass, and the SXD2 GoTo equatorial mount with a Star Book Ten controller. This is a great intermediate to advanced level equatorial telescope package with dual-axis drive and computerized GoTo electronics. Perfect for both astrophotography as well as visual use, you’ll love the tablet-style controller and the beautiful contrast of this Japanese made 115 mm refractor.

    About the ED115S Refractor Telescope

    The high definition ED lens on Vixen's ED115S Refractor gives excellent optical performance with its Super Extra Low Dispersion (SD) glass. Chromatic aberration is virtually eliminated. The Sky at Night Magazine states: "Vixen's optics were excellent. The scope corrected false colors almost perfectly when in focus...Pointing the scope at the stars showed the optics to be pretty much perfectly corrected".

    The SD lenses on the Vixen ED115S feature brighter images from the shorter f/7.7 focal ratio to capture crisp, pinpoint star images for your enjoyment. The ED115S Refractor's lenses are made with environmentally friendly technologies, free of hazardous lead that helps to support a cleaner global environment. The astro-photographer will be especially pleased with the 4” diameter and the high contrast images. The SD lenses focus all visible rays of light at nearly the very same position. This ensures that the chromatic aberration is highly corrected over a wide spectrum of light. It is of special note that the g-ray light, which affects image contrast, is well suppressed. The ED115S comes complete with 125mm tube rings and Vixen's Dual Speed Focuser.

    About the Vixen SXD2 Mount

    Vixen has reworked the design and manufacture of its innovative SXD Mount, creating the SXD2 German Equatorial Mount. The SXD2 Mount has a greater loading capacity and is more rigid enabling a more steady platform for astrophotography. The quieter stepping motors ensure you of smooth, quiet slewing with quick response to commands. The Star Book Ten, available previously on the SXP Mount, features an intuitive Star Chart Go-To System on a high definition LCD Screen. Features include night vision screen, hibernate mode, VPEC and PPEC, and optional built in auto guider. Both the RA and DEC Axes are made of sturdy steel with brass wheel gears. This enables the mount to carry loads of up to 50 pounds (including counterweights) for astrophotography.

    Smooth RA and DEC Movement: The inside of the new SXD2 is very different from the previous SX Mounts. Bearings have been added to the shafts of t he RA and DEC axes and the screw gear shafts. The worm screw gears are inspected for strict concentricity and are lapped in the whole-circle for smooth movement.

    Increased Loading Capacity: Both the RA and DEC Axes are made of sturdy steel with brass wheel gears. This enables the mount to carry loads of up to 50 lb. (including counterweights) for the visual observer and 33 lb. for astrophotography.

    STAR BOOK TEN & HAL-130 Tripod Features

    The STAR BOOK TEN is the most advanced astronomical hand controller available and is recommended for anyone interested in exploring the night sky. The innovative STAR BOOK TEN hand controller offers astronomical navigation with a large full-color High Definition LCD screen! The color screen is a detailed star chart that acts as a navigational and GOTO guide for the mount.

    The screen can be displayed with monochromatic red light in order to maximize the accommodation of your eyes to darkness. The operating keys can also be lit in red.

    Hibernate Mode: After selecting to continue the current setup at the initial screen, you can break and restart your automatic slewing and tracking of the mount by just flipping the power switch, if the mount is still in place, without loosening the R.A. and DEC clamp levers.

    Different Tracking Rates: The motion of the moon, the sun, planets and comets have different tracking rates than the stars. The STARBOOK TEN moves the mount at different rates, automatically, dependent upon the target object.

    Artificial Satellite Watching: The STARBOOK TEN has a menu to find and track artificial satellites by entering the orbital elements of the satellites. the ISS and named satellites are pre-registered.

    The HAL130 Tripod provides ample stability and has no wobble points in its design. The HAL130 has a large base to carry the SXD2 mount. The tripod extends from 32" to 51" (81cm to 130cm) and weighs 12 lb.(5.5 kg).
