The Vixen 25094DS consists of the R200SS, an 8” reflector with fast f/4 optics, and the SXP GoTo equatorial mount with a Star Book Ten controller. This is a great intermediate to advanced level equatorial telescope package with dual-axis drive, and computerized GoTo electronics. When combined with the large aperture super fast R200SS, you’ll get a telescope that is great for both visual and imaging applications.
About the R200SS Reflector Telescope
The remarkably fast 200mm (8") f/4 parabolic primary mirror of the Vixen R200SS Newtonian reflector gives extremely sharp images with no chromatic aberration. The use of state-of-the-art coating technology yields the ideal surface for its f/4 primary mirror. The visual observer will enjoy wide views of deep sky objects. Actual groups of nebula or clusters can be viewed at the same time with this instrument. The telescope's large aperture and compact body make it ideally suited for astrophotography of nebulae, star clusters and comets. The use of the optional coma corrector allows for a sharp coma-free image from edge to edge, and the rack and pinion dual-speed focuser offers fine-focusing ability.
About the Vixen SXP Mount
Designed for the astrophotographer, the Vixen Sphinx SXP Equatorial Mount builds on leading edge innovations developed through decades of experience designing German Equatorial Mounts. The Vixen SPHINX SXP mount and STAR BOOK TEN hand controller display the best in portable GoTo technology. The Sphinx SXP Mount comes standard with the STAR BOOK TEN. This new generation of hand held controllers features a high definition LCD screen and the technology to show you the sky before your telescope takes you there. The Vixen SXP Mount has a maximum loading weight of 35 lb. for astrophotography and 50 lb. for the visual observer.
Vixen Sphinx SXP Mount Features
Motors: The Sphinx SXP Mount features pulse motors designed to react smoothly and accurately. The micro slow motion control assures you of smooth operation.
R.A and DEC: The R.A. and DEC wheels have 180 teeth. They are high precision machined wheels and worm gears made of brass for the most accurate tracking possible. The R.A. and DEC shafts are comprised of strong carbon steel. The rotational parts have 15 bearings. All this provides smooth tracking and slewing.
Unique Mount Design: The Vixen Sphinx SXP Mount is designed so that the mount body acts as part of the counterweight system.
Periodic Error Correction: Data from your input is saved for your next observing session.
Polar Axis Scope: The Sphinx SXP Mount includes a built-in 6x20 polar axis scope. It features a bubble level, illuminated reticle, and setting accuracy within 3 minutes.
- Time Graduation Circle: 10 Minute Increments
- Date Graduation Circle: 2 Day Increments
- Meridian Offset Circle: Adjustable between E20 deg and W20 deg in 5 deg increments
- Northern Hemisphere: Polaris pattern with reticle (Applicable to year 2025)
- Southern Hemisphere: Octantal 4 stars pattern with reticle
STAR BOOK TEN & HAL-130 Tripod Features
The STAR BOOK TEN is the most advanced astronomical hand controller available and is recommended for anyone interested in exploring the night sky. The innovative STAR BOOK TEN hand controller offers astronomical navigation with a large full-color High Definition LCD screen! The color screen is a detailed star chart that acts as a navigational and GOTO guide for the mount.
The screen can be displayed with monochromatic red light in order to maximize the accommodation of your eyes to darkness. The operating keys can also be lit in red.
Hibernate Mode: After selecting to continue the current setup at the initial screen, you can break and restart your automatic slewing and tracking of the mount by just flipping the power switch, if the mount is still in place, without loosening the R.A. and DEC clamp levers.
Different Tracking Rates: The motion of the moon, the sun, planets and comets have different tracking rates than the stars. The STARBOOK TEN moves the mount at different rates, automatically, dependent upon the target object.
Artificial Satellite Watching: The STARBOOK TEN has a menu to find and track artificial satellites by entering the orbital elements of the satellites. the ISS and named satellites are pre-registered.
The HAL130 Tripod provides ample stability and has no wobble points in its design. The HAL130 has a large base to carry the Sphinx SXP mount. The tripod extends from 32" to 51" (81cm to 130cm) and weighs 12 lb.(5.5 kg).
