Celestron 10x42 Nature DX ED Binoculars

Celestron's already award-winning Nature DX binocular series is now even better with the inclusion of ED objective lenses. This is a noteworthy upgrade that raises the optical performance level of these Nature DX binoculars to that of more expensive models, but for a price that won't break the bank.

The Celestron Nature DX ED is a versatile, general-purpose binocular that is optimally suited for hikes, birdwatching, sporting events, concerts, or nearly any situation where you want to get an up-close view of the action without compromising on brightness or detail. With ED glass to help you identify the most subtle of field markings and a close focus of only 6.5 feet, these binoculars are especially great for observing nature.

    ED Objective Lenses

Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, also known as color fringing, a visual defect common in binoculars. The Nature DX ED delivers razor sharp images, even at the edges of the field of view. ED glass is also known for producing images with outstanding, true-to-life color.

In terms of quality, not all ED glass is created equal. Images viewed through these Celestron 10x42 Nature DX binoculars will be visibly brighter and sharper compared to images viewed through binoculars without ED glass objective lenses. This discrepancy becomes particularly apparent in low light conditions, such as at daybreak or twilight.

    Coatings and Prisms

All Nature DX ED binoculars contain fully multi-coated optics. For a binocular to be considered "fully multi-coated", all interior air-to-glass surfaces need to be coated with multiple anti-reflectivity coating layers. This enables the greatest possible amount of light to pass through to the user's eye.

Interior prisms are made of high quality BaK-4 glass with phase coatings applied to allow more light to reach your eye after being reflected off their internal faces.

Taken together, the fully multi-coated lenses and BaK-4 prisms maximize light transmission for remarkably bright, highly detailed images. The ED objective lenses further enhance these features, especially in low light conditions.

    The Body

Housed in a durable, rubber armored polycarbonate exterior, Nature DX ED binoculars are simultaneously lightweight and resistant to damage. Sturdy twist-up eyecups enable comfortable viewing for both eyeglass and non-eyeglasses wearers alike. Easily find the optimal position for your eye using multiple click-stops. Furthermore, Nature DX ED binoculars are fully waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to keep all internal lenses from fogging. These binoculars can withstand even the harshest outdoor conditions.

Perfect for a Variety of Uses

With 10x magnification, this Nature DX ED binocular model is ideal for viewing remote subjects close-up. Despite this high magnification, close focus is still only 6.5 feet, making these binoculars an excellent choice for observing birds, butterflies, plants, and more.

    Ways to Observe

Comfortably carry your Nature DX ED binoculars using the included strap. Tripod adaptable, these binoculars can be mounted to any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece). Tripod adapter sold separately. A protective padded nylon case is also included for protection during storage and transport.
