Celestron SkyPortal app: the best way to navigate the night sky
With your AstroFi 102mm Maksutov-Cassegrain and the SkyPortal app, you'll never have to look at a star chart or wonder which objects to view with your telescope. Simply hold your device up to the night sky to instantly identify any star, planet, or other bright object. Tap an object to view more detailed information and press "GoTo" to center it in your AstroFi's eyepiece. As you view the object, you can listen to hundreds of SkyPortal's audio descriptions, immersing yourself in a multi-sensory experience.
If you aren't quite sure what to view, tap on the "Tonight's Best" menu to view a customized list of everything currently visible based on your exact time, date, and location.
Easy setup gives you more time to enjoy the view
As soon as you turn on AstroFi, it begins broadcasting a WiFi signal within a 30-foot radius of the telescope. Connect to the telescope's network with your mobile device (or devices--up to 3 can connect at once for the ultimate star party!).
Next, SkyPortal will guide you through the simple SkyAlign procedure, asking you to center any three bright objects in the eyepiece so the telescope can triangulate its position. From there, you're ready for a full night of celestial exploration!
AstroFi includes two eyepieces and a red dot finderscope and comes together in minutes. It runs on AA batteries, which you can easily swap out for extended observing marathons.
