The Sky-Watcher EQ6 is a medium load equatorial mount with advanced features that enhance all of your astronomy adventures. With a weight capacity of 40 pounds, the EQ6 can easily support all but the largest telescopes, including an SCT up to 11” in aperture, as well as most Newtonian or refractor optical tube assemblies.
A heavy-duty equatorial mount like the Sky-Watcher EQ6 is always a good choice for amateur astronomers. It works wonderfully well for both visual use as well as astrophotography. The computerized SkyScan hand controller allows you to find and track almost 43,000 celestial objects, and the added high precision electronics supports imaging pursuits.
Precision guiding and tracking capabilities
Even when doing less demanding visual observations, you will appreciate the high precision tracking and pointing accuracy of the Sky-Watcher EQ6 mount. However, these features become even more important once you venture into the exciting world of deep-space astrophotography, and this mount is built with accuracy in mind. The EQ6 uses micro-step driven 1.8 degree stepper motors that have a motor resolution of 0.144 arc seconds. Periodic error correction is standard, allowing you to train errors out of your mount for improved drive accuracy. Position accuracy is up to 1 arc minute, and is enhanced by mount mechanical error compensation. Slew your telescope around the sky at up to 3.4 degrees per second, or choose from four guide speeds, including 0.25x, 0.50x, 0.75x, or 1x.
Built-in illuminated polar alignment scope
The Sky-Watcher EQ6 comes with several accessories to make your astronomy experience easier and more enjoyable. One such accessory is a built-in illuminated polar scope, which will make polar alignment faster and easier. The SynScan hand controller can be connected to a computer via an RS-232 cable, and can be updated whenever new software is available. Also, connecting the SynScan to your computer means you can use optional planetarium software with telescope control capabilities to send commands to your telescope.Other accessories include a heavy-duty steel legged tripod with spreader bar, two 11 pound counterweights, a 13” dovetail, and a DC power cord.
