Baader Planetarium Hyperion Telescope Eyepieces
Sky-Watcher’s largest Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope, the 7” Maksutov-Cassegrain provides the same impressive visuals you’d get from a refractor, but without the size, weight, and price tag.
Create stunning images of the planets
The 180mm Sky-Watcher Maksutov-Cassegrain is an ideal choice for the aspiring astroimager. With its native f/15 focal ratio, this scope pairs perfectly with planetary cameras or webcams for capturing Jupiter and Saturn. This telescope can also be used for deep sky imaging of deep sky objects such as galaxies with a CCD camera or your DSLR.
Versatility meets portability
The Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design is a favorite for both terrestrial and celestial use. This larger aperture model is sure to impress with plenty of light gathering ability. You’ll enjoy bright, detailed views of even faint celestial objects.
Still, despite 7” of aperture, the 180mm Maksutov-Cassegrain weighs in at just 19 lb, making it significantly lighter than a comparable refractor. Whether you’re taking the telescope out to a dark sky site or just carrying it up to your rooftop, the compact and lightweight form factor comes in handy. Plus, you won’t have to invest in a beefy telescope mount to point and slew this telescope accurately.
About the Maksutov-Cassegrain
Although it’s not as widely known as the refractor or Newtonian reflector, the Maksutov-Cassegrain offers superb optical performance. Using a Maksutov corrector lens on the front of the optical tube and a series of mirrors, “Mak-Cass” telescopes correct for visual defects like chromatic aberration and coma. The result is pinpoint stars and high contrast views.
The 180mm Sky-Watcher Mak-Cass includes several high-quality accessories: an 8x50 straight-through finderscope to zero in on your target with ease, a 28mm 2” eyepiece, and a 2” star diagonal for more comfortable viewing. The scope is also equipped with a standard Vixen-style dovetail bar for mounting on most standard altazimuth or German equatorial telescope mounts.
